Chapter 76: The Heaven's Elite

A bonfire crackled up in the middle of the cave and the six of us sat down around it. "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys. Kyrios is a level 274 Dark Knight, and one of the junior masters of the guild." I hastily said. "Level 274!?" Roy gasped. "Yes. People can exceed level 200 if they undergo extremely vigorous training. This guild has a joining requirement of level 190 and above. We're not like the other normal guilds, as you can clearly see." Kyrios smiled. Alexis managed a weak smile.

"I asked the rest of the guild if they wanted to fight the Horntail. We've never really had a chance to do it all together." Kyrios glanced at a radio set in a corner of the cave. "The others are coming?" I asked. He nodded, then jerked his head around. "Whaddya know, they're here already." He chuckled. I immediately sensed a cloud of powerful magic in the cave. A few seconds later, a Paladin stepped out of thin air. "The others are coming." He said and winked at me, quickly walking to stand beside me. He was the master of the guild, a level 333 Paladin. 33 levels higher than me, and taller than me by 0.2 metres. I blushed slightly, but kept my composure. 10 seconds after the master stepped through the void, a Fire and Poison Archmage, a Bishop, and an Ice and Lightning Archmage followed through. "The 3 Mage Brothers, reporting for duty." The Bishop announced, saluting both the master and me. We returned the salutes and they went to sit in a corner. Those 3 were perfectly identical to the last hair follicle.

Another few seconds later, two people dressed in black clothes stepped through the now visible portal. The two most powerful thieves in the clan. A Shadower and a Night Road. They saluted us quietly and went into a corner and began playing cards. A Crossbow Master stepped through the portal later and joined the thieves after saluting. "That's all." The master sighed, then reached a hand out, touching the portal. It disappeared. "Not all of us were eager for a shot at the Horntail, but it's not often that we get the best here." He stared at me. "You climbed up here wearing THAT?" He eyed my clothes. "Its fine, I'm used to the cold already." I replied.

"I see you brought a few friends along." The master remarked, fingering the claymore on his back. "I recruited them a few minutes ago." I explained. "I see. Well, let me introduce myself. My name is Ares." He smiled. "I'm Roy. Nice to meet you." Roy shook Ares's hand. The introduction carried on for a minute or so. "Right. Now that we're all acquainted, I think its time we went to bed. We'll need all the energy we can tomorrow at the Horntail. Sleep as long as you like!" Ares laughed. I placed a hand on thin air, visualizing a bed. A bed instantly appeared there, and Kyrios dragged it off to a side, smiling. I Traced more beds for the rest of the guild, then tried to go to sleep with them.

It appeared, however, that sometimes, being the second in command of one of the best guilds in the world was a little troublesome. I was so excited that I could barely sleep. Ares woke me up in the middle of the night for a little talk. "There's something I've been meaning to ask you for quite a long time." He fingered his claymore. I held a hand up. "I think I know what you mean." I pressed my legs against his. He nearly choked. "You want to propose to me?" I chuckled. His face turned red. "How'd... how'd you know!?" He stammered. "I can see it in your eyes." I fixed him with a sultry stare. "I forgot, you can read people's thoughts from their eyes. Oh well." He sighed and put a hand in the pocket of his pants, withdrawing a miniscule box.

"I've never met a woman that can match up to my power before, let alone exceed level 200. In fact, you're the only woman in the guild. I think you noticed that." Ares said, turning the box around in his palm. I knew what was in it. "Yep, I noticed." I put my hands on the back of my head and lay down on the floor. "I've given this a good thought, and I decided what you saw in my eyes." Ares popped the latch on the box, exposing a diamond ring on a nest of foam. I knew it! "So, once this thing is over, do you......" He stammered. Obviously he was a little uncomfortable with revealing his emotions like this. I laughed and hugged him close. "I'll take that as a yes." Ares chuckled, and we kissed. I knew this relationship wouldn't end like that time with Ikki. Ares was real.

Next morning, Ares and me were the first people to wake up. We looked at each other and laughed. Ares had pushed his bed adjacent to mine to sleep, and we had locked into a hug overnight. He quickly got up and pushed his bed further away as not to arouse suspicion. I went to start the fire. Piece of cake, all it needed was a concentrated thought of 'Fire' and the fire would light up. I got up and went to check outside the cave. The snowstorm had cleared up overnight, and the skies were clear. Perfect weather for climbing. When I turned around, the others were already awake. The thieves and the Crossbow Master continued playing cards, while the triplets were discussing something with Ares. Alexis was looking around with a surprised look on her face, and Roy was chatting animatedly with Jullian and Jakito.

"All right. We'll split into three teams for the climb up. Artemis, you're with your friends. Fury, take the 3 brothers. I'll be with Dray and Lightning." Ares announced. The Shadower's name was Furion, but we all called him Fury. He nodded and moved in front of the triplets. The Night Road was called Lightning, a name he had insisted on when he was first accepted into the guild. He smiled and walked towards Ares. Dray was the Crossbow Master. My friends all gathered around me. "Once up there, kill any monsters that get in your way." Ares said, then produced a length of climbing rope from his bag, tying one end around his waist. I walked to the exit and placed my hand on it. The rock slid aside and I retied my climbing rope around my waist. The others held on. "Artemis's group will go first, while Fury's group follows. We can't afford to lose the mages. My group will climb up as rear guard."

Several hours later, we reached another ledge. I clambered up, pulling the others up, then standing back to make room for Fury's group. He came rather fast, and the mages hovered up behind him. Then, I looked down and saw Ares. I reached my hand down and helped to pull him up. The temperature was below 0 degrees Celsius at this height, and some of the party's potions were beginning to freeze. "We're here." I said, staring into the mist. A entrance to a cave was barely visible. The entrance resembled a huge Skelesaurus's head. "Right, get ready for the fight of our lives." Ares took his claymore from behind his back and I unclipped my Buster Sword. Both our swords were almost the same size. Sounds of metal scratching behind us told us that our guild was getting ready. Dray was testing the trigger on his crossbow, and the Bishop was making a white circle in the air. Alexis had her sword ready, and Roy was fingering his Hwabi Throwing Stars nervously. The other Night Road walked over to him and clapped him on the back, grinning at him. Roy returned the grin and both Night Roads formed a seal with their hands. Their shadows rose up behind them. Another few seals and pools of wind formed under everyone's feet. We all felt faster.

I concentrated on my back, and two wings burst out. I didn't want to reveal the full extent of my power to the guild yet. Summoning the Archaeion, I took off into the air at a slight hover, several centimetres off the ground. Ares led the party through the entrance, after taking out the guard will a well-placed throwing knife.
