Chapter 68: A Monstrosity

The beast I had hugged into my bosom earlier suddenly took the syringe and injected it into itself. Kon was smiling now. "Welcome back, Leo." He said as the beast's horns, claws, scales and tail disappeared. The remaining form shrank slightly, then turned peach colour. It was a naked man. Alexis covered her eyes. "Thanks for saving me. You know, you've got soft breasts." Leo remarked. "You're so funny." I chuckled. "We've got a party crasher." Kon was edging towards the elevator. I turned to look at Hugo and gasped. He was no longer himself!

It seemed that the liquid in the gun I had smashed was actually some sort of liquid that mutated anything it touched into a monster. Hugo was now 10 feet tall and sporting two tails, two dragon-like heads, one left wing, and 10 arms. His heads let out a roar and the thing charged. "What should I do..." I put a finger to my lip and thought for a few seconds, dodging a tail swipe. I knew he was still part-human, so I couldn't shoot him. However, if I didn't shoot him, the four of us would be in big trouble. Leo had already used the syringe to turn himself back to normal, so that was out of the question.

"Whaaa!" I arced my body backwards and narrowly avoided a ball of wind. Even so, I felt the force of it press down on my leather shirt. A small cut was on the middle of the shirt now, right between my breasts. I raised my revolver, but hesitated. Another ball of wind flew out of a head's mouth, and I hopped over it, only to find the monstrosity right in my face. "AAARRGH!!!" I screamed as I was thrown into a wall. Something cracked. Not the wall. "Rushuna!" Alexis ran over. I raised a palm weakly to stop her. "Oh gosh, if you don't get over it, we'll die!" A voice said in my mind. "An ignoble end for a woman of this caliber." Another said. "Tag, Sakura!" I whispered. "Gotcha. I'll beat him up for us." Sakura smiled and I blacked out.

I gasped. Rushuna's hair was now turning pink and growing shorter. Was there going to be another personality coming out?

I stood up to my full height and placed a hand over my injuries. A blue aura bathed my hand and the wound, and the pain stopped. I sealed the revolver, putting it back in my pocket. "Haven't been out in a while!" I stretched. The monster in front of me was roaring and pounding it's chest. "Who's this now?" Alexis asked. "Sakura." I replied and made a mighty jump for the monster's head. Mid-jump, I started focusing energy into my fists.

"Eat this!" I shouted, slamming my fist into the monster's neck and releasing all of the stored energy at once. The monster's neck exploded and sent a head flying across the room. "Awww, poor guy." Rushuna mumbled sadly. The monster let out a deafening roar, and then the severed head suddenly regrew! I gasped and leapt back just in time to avoid another ball of wind. "Get outta here!" I shouted to Kon and the others, who were watching me fight. Alexis grabbed them and took them to the elevator. "What about you?" Alexis asked. "I'll be fine!" I shouted back and dived aside to dodge a ball of wind.

The elevator doors closed and the lights on top started counting down. "It's just you and me now." I flexed my fingers, then jumped to the ceiling to avoid a jet of flame from the regrown head. "Make an attempt for the heart." Arturia suggested. "Good idea." I replied and formed a seal with my hands. "Dark Sight!" I whispered, watching my body seemingly meld into the air. However, another ball of wind hit me before I could completely disappear and the technique was broken. I was flung into a wall, and I punched right through it, into the sky outside. Uhoh.

I had a trick up my sleeve though. I flicked open my scroll pocket and took one out, wrapping it around my chest. I muttered an incantation, and a pair of red wings burst out of my back. I flapped them to stabilize myself in mid air. The monster followed me out into the sky, flapping it's single left wing. How could it fly with just one wing?

I clenched my fists tighter and flew towards the monster, again, concentrating energy on my fist. "Die, bastard!" I shouted, slamming my fist into the beast's chest. However, the attack was stopped by it's 10 arms. I smirked as the force of the punch caused the arms to disintegrate and I sent another punch flying into the monster's chest, along with a neatly placed kick right in between the legs. My punch had created a small explosion that blew up the monster's torso, and my kick split the hips in half. Gray drops of blood sprayed out into the air, and I flew backwards. I had a feeling this blood wouldn't be good to touch. The monster's heads turned to stone and crumbled into pieces.

"Impressive, Sakura." Arturia remarked. "Thanks." I replied. "Is Artemis okay yet?" Rushuna asked. "Nah, she's still sleeping." I closed my eyes. "Hey, Rushuna, you take over. I'm not good at socializing." I added. "Okay!" Rushuna smiled. I blacked out.

By now, we had reached the bottom of the Fidelo Needle and were now walking out. Suddenly, Sakura...... No, Rushuna landed in front of us. Her wings were yellow. "Where's Hug...... Oh." I noticed part of a petrified dragon snout beside the door. "Sakura took care of him." Rushuna replied. "Who's Sakura?" Leo asked. He had taken the time to steal some clothes from an unconscious guard. "Long story." I said. A grumbling sound issued from Rushuna's stomach. She blushed. "I'm hungry..." She massaged her stomach. "Let's get back home." I smiled. "Okay! Last one back's a big fat toad!" Rushuna ran off. I gaped at her, but Kon and Leo were already running after her. "Wait up!" I shouted.
