Chapter 65: Sweet Revenge

The Fidelo Needle was just the same as ever, but it seemed to have gained a few upgrades. I could see laser turrets positioned at various places around the building itself. A hangar entrance sat on the 50th floor, and the windows were tinted black. "Shall we go in noisily or silently? I can demolish the entire building from the first floor." I cracked my knuckles. "I want to know what kind of experiment Fidelo did to my friend. Maybe then we can find out how to fix him." Kon said. "I take it you want a quiet entrance." I unclipped the huge throwing star on my back and primed it. "Boomerang Wave!" I whispered and threw the star. The throwing star started to orbit the building, slicing off the barrels of the laser turrets. A siren sounded inside the Needle. "This is my idea of fun." I grinned as a large wave of guards rushed out of the building's entrance and stepped out from cover.

I caught the throwing star in one hand as it returned and clipped it back onto my back. The guards seemed to rear back for a second, and I stuck a hand into my weapons pocket. "Got it." I smiled and pulled out the two pistols, breaking the seal on the way out. The guards instantly started firing. Red laser beams shot through the air, and I instantly launched myself into the air over the guards. "Resonation Wave!" I shouted and clapped my fists together in the air. A sonic wave shot out from the point of impact and blew several guards into the air. I started firing my pistols too. "Blizzard! Inferno!" I shouted, alternating between the two skills. The entire platoon of guards was suppressed in a very short time. 1 minute, to be exact. Hmmm, I need to train more.

"Shall we?" I pointed at the building entrance. "Way to wreak havoc." Alexis smiled and walked through the entrance, instantly setting off a laser trap. Red beams blossomed out from turrets on the ceiling and I leapt in front of her, bringing my gloved hands up. The lasers dissipated on my gloves, but I still felt a bit of heat. I brought my pistols up and blasted the turrets into oblivion. "Thanks." Alexis breathed. "You're welcome." I stowed the pistols back into storage and unclipped my upgraded Buster Sword. Swords would be better at close range than guns.

I didn't have much trouble hacking the elevator lock, or rather, destroying them with a beam burst from the tip of my sword. We were soon riding the elevator up. "They upgraded the elevator system. Some floors up, we'll have to input a password to keep going, or else we'll have to take the stairs or switch to another elevator." Kon explained. "Option 1 is out of the question, you demolished the lock." Alexis remarked. The elevator came to a stop. "Input pass-" I smashed the loudspeaker. The door opened and a...... whoa.

"What the heck!?" Alexis shrieked as something on 4 legs came bounding into the elevator. The...... thing leapt on her and started trying to take pieces out of her. "Leave her alone!" I shouted and grabbed the thing by it's neck, throwing it out of the elevator. Kon was wide-eyed and gasping. "Genetic mutation...... I didn't know they progressed this far!" He quickly closed the door. "So now we'll have to fight mutated monsters? More training for me. Stand back." I walked to the door and stuck a hand inside my weapons pocket. I flicked through the weapons for a while......

"Oho." I smiled happily and withdrew a harpoon gun, complete with ammunition. "Whoa." Alexis gasped and she and Kon stepped back as I broke the seal and aimed the weapon at the elevator doors. "Open on 3." I nodded to Kon. He placed his hand over the controls. "1. 2." I counted off and switched off the gun's safety. Kon pushed the button on 3. I pulled the trigger.

The door opened just a notch, but enough for the harpoon to go through. I quickly stored the gun back in my pocket and leapt out. My shot had impaled the man-wolf straight through the brain, but...... "Eeep." Alexis squeaked. "Sh!t!" I cursed and grabbed my sword. An entire roomful of those wolf-men were surrounding us. "Swirling Tornado Striker!" I shouted and jumped into the air, spinning around like a top while holding the sword out. Mid-jump, I split the sword in half and held one in each hand. Kon and Alexis dived to the floor. Just as I hit the ground, something swept me off my feet. These wolf-men were smart!

I was forced to fight for my life. This was one of the hardest battles I had been in for about 4 years. The wolf-men seemed to have no limit. For every one I struck down, two rose up to fill its position. I could dodge their attacks easily, but they learnt, and coordinated their attacks according to my movements. The magic shield spell on my pants could only protect against magical attacks, and had no effect on physical attacks. I was soon severely scratched. Kon and Alexis were under attack as well, and Kon wasn't doing too well. Alexis was cutting those beasts in half left and right, with her armour protecting her from the brunt of the attacks. If I had known I'd be facing something like this, I'd have brought my full armour set!

"Not yet......" I slashed a beast in half and kicked another in the face. If I used the Earth Shaker attack, the entire building would fall to the ground, burying us in the debris. There had to be something I could do. Turning into the Arch Angel or the Dark Dragon now would create a magical explosion as powerful as a nuclear explosion due to the confined space.Fighting with the sword made my attacks slow, so I clipped it to my back and started using my fists and feet. Way faster.

The wolf-men came on endlessly! I had no room to use magic or any skills. "Kon, get out of here!" I yelled, parrying a claw at the same time and launching into a spinning kick that took out about 4 of those beasts. "Where the hell are they coming from!?" Kon stabbed a wolf-man in the heart and got hit by another from his back. I suddenly remembered my Mu Lung sensei's words. "Stay calm during a fight and think rationally." This rule was pretty much in pieces in the condition I was in, but......

"Heal!" I jumped to the ceiling and clasped my hands together to form a seal. Alexis and Kon were healed instantly, and I leapt back to the floor. "Shockwave!" I smacked my palm on the ground hard. This skill was designed to hurl enemies back from the centre of the shockwave, and was one of the most useful knockback spells in my arsenal. With the level of practice I had with it, I was able to control its targets. Most of the wolf-men were instantly hurled back from me and I straightened myself. "Infinity Impale!" I shouted, focusing my mana into the air around me. This spell needed a few seconds to charge up, which I had gained using Shockwave.

A large amount of spectral spears appeared around me, forming a barrier. Some of the charging wolf-men hit the spears and died. I blinked and the spears fired out, impaling all of the wolf-men without leaving a scratch on my companions. Both of them were surprised when they opened their eyes to find the beasts dead on the ground. "You two okay?" I bent down and reached my hands out to pull them to their feet. "There better be no more of those things coming out at us." I looked towards the source. There was a high-speed elevator on the other side of the room. One of my spears had smashed through the controls and jammed the elevator. Two of those things were still on the platform, stuck halfway and snarling at us.

"What skill was that?" Alexis blinked. "Infinity Impale. It summons spears into the air around me and fires when I give the signal." I explained and pulled Kon up. "Handy skill." He grunted and crumpled to the ground. "Your leg......" I stared at his leg. It had been scratched during the battle, and purple liquid...... Oh crap. Poison. "Stay still." I commanded. He froze. I bent down and placed my hand on the wound. "Detoxify." I commanded. Nothing happened. "Darn. This isn't an ordinary poison." I cursed and bent my head down to his leg. I closed my mouth over the wound and began to suck the poison out, spitting it on the ground. Simultaneously, I reached a hand into my potion pocket and pulled out an antidote. Through vigorous training, I had learnt to distinguish between poisons just by the taste. "Drink this." I handed Kon the antidote and turned to look at Alexis. She was okay, her armour protected her from the poisons. All of a sudden, my body started to hurt. Hold on, I got scratched during the fight...... Sh!t.

I winced as the pain started to set in. My vision blurred slightly, but I was okay. At least for a few more minutes. "You okay?" Alexis panted. I sank to the ground and pushed myself up again. Painfully. "Yeah...... ouch." I groaned. Kon handed me half of the antidote I gave him. "I'm fine now." He said. "The poison...... needs to be sucked out... I have...too many wounds..." I moaned in pain and struggled to my feet. My legs crumpled and I collapsed. "We need to get you to safety." Alexis insisted and propped me up. "No... I can still fight..." I shook her off and stumbled to a wall. Kon forcibly opened my mouth and poured the antidote in. I felt better, but it didn't ease the pain. The poison was circulating around my blood system now!
