Prologue "www.maplestory.com" the URL at the top of the Firefox browser read. A teenager roughly about 14 began typing a few words eagerly. "Login ID...... Password... Done!" he said triumphantly. "Ivan! It's bedtime!" a feminine voice called down. "Awww......" he sighed and turned off the computer, running upstairs. The computer emitted a small spark of light and settled down. Chapter 1 - The World Of MapleStory Somewhere on earth...... Ivan rushed up the stairs, his mother yelling behind him, "Make sure you do your homework first!". Ivan replied, "Okay mum!" as he turned on the computer. He flashed back to the last day as he created an account on MapleStory. He couldnt wait to start playing. As the desktop appeared on his computer he clicked on an icon labelled "MapleStory". He waited as the screens rolled and typed in his login ID and password and clicked on "Login". Suddenly he felt as if he was being sucked into his computer screen. He started to yell but apparently no one could hear him. He wondered what was happening as he spiraled into unconsciousness...... Ivan awoke on Maple Island an hour later, his head spinning. He looked around his surroundings and wondered, "Whats happened!?". As he started to look around, another boy jumped out of some bushes. "Boo!" The boy said, startling Ivan. "Waaa!" Ivan yelled as he stepped backwards and tripped. He landed on the grass, looking surprised. "Oh, I'm sorry if i scared you, i thought you were someone else." "Its ok, by the way, where are we?" "You mean you don't know? We're on Maple Island, the place where all beginners start out on their adventures." "Maple Island?" "Yeah!" Ivan gaped. Now that he thought about it, he couldn't remember anything about his past other than being sucked into his computer. He started to walk around with the boy as he showed him the parts of Maple Island. When they got to the snails, Ivan looked at them and asked, "We're supposed to fight those?". The boy replied, "Yeah, you're supposed to level up by fighting monsters and doing quests". "By the way, my name's Roy, whats your's?" "My name is Ivan. Nice to meet you." "Same to you. So what job are you planning to become?" "Huh?" "There are 4 main jobs, Magician, Bowman, Thief and Warrior. Magicians use magic, Bowmen use bows and crossbows while thieves can use either claws, daggers or cutters and warriors do more damage with their weapons, namely swords, axes, maces and hammers. I'm planning to become a thief." "Hmmmm, I guess I'll take the path of the bowman." "Oh, okay." The duo continued their journey through Maple Island, fighting monsters and doing quests as they progressed until both reached level 10 and were at Southperry. Ivan asked a passer by on how to change jobs as Roy listened. "How do i become a bowman?" "Go to Henesys and look for Athena Pierce, she'll direct you on the path to becoming a bowman." "And what about thieves?" "The Dark Lord at Kerning City will help you." "How can we get to the 2 cities?" "Take the ship to Victoria Island. Both cities are there." "Okay, thanks for your help." "No problem." They got on the ship to Victoria Island, paying 500 mesos. As they fell asleep in their bunks, Ivan tried to recall his past but failed. He eventually fell asleep after 10 minutes. Next morning...... "Wake up, you sleepyhead!" yelled Roy. Ivan sat up groggily and rubbed his eyes. "Where are we?" he asked. "We've reached Victoria Island already!" Roy shook Ivan awake and both left the ship and stepped onto the shores of Lith Harbour. "So this is Victoria Island? Its so big......" Ivan said. "Yep, talk to that guy over there and he'll take you anywhere on the island. See you around, i'm heading to Kerning City, you should be going to Henesys, I'll join you there when i become a thief and get my equipment. I hear they have a great training ground." Roy replied as he disappeared into a taxi. Ivan decided to get on his way and left for Henesys. When he got there, he asked for directions to Athena Pierce's home and went there, hoping eagerly that she would let him advance. As he walked in her door, an orange mushroom suddenly appeared out of nowhere and attacked him. He fended it off without much of a problem. Athena came out of a separate room and said, "Nice work child, some people have been throwing those orange mushrooms in my door for a bit of a prank lately. So you want to make the job advancement as the bowman?". "Yes, i do." Ivan replied "Hmmmm......I can see it in your eyes......You will make a great bowman. I will allow you to make the job advancement." "Really? Thank you very much!" Ivan suddenly felt as though he had become stronger. "I have just given you a bit of my power. Now train hard and become stronger, my child." "I cant express how thankful i am towards you for letting me advance, Athena." "May the gods bless you on your journey." Ivan left Athena's home feeling much stronger. He then proceeded to the weapons and armour store to buy his equipment and left for the training ground to train. Roy met him there, twirling a throwing star on his finger. "I see you made the advancement." "Yeah, Athena was really nice." "By the way, did you buy any arrows? You cant fire a bow without arrows you know." "Oh crap i forgot! I'll go and buy some now." "No need, i bought some extra arrows just in case you forgot, here." "Thanks." "No problem." The duo formed a party and started training and becoming stronger...... |
