Chapter 90: Breakthrough After that episode with the rat poop, Daniel was forced to clean it out on his own because us girls were afraid of the smell. He reeked of it for a few days and no amount of showering would clear the stench. Keichii helped train me a bit more and even tried to teach me a few of his Elemental Charge skills. I could only manage a Ice Charge for a second or so, but the Siren managed to help me boost the time limit up to a few minutes. I even managed to freeze Kei's sword once! "So, how are we gonna beat Ragnarok?" Keichii brought up the question. An air of silence immediately fell over the group. "Even Centurion Mode can't take him down easily, and he'll surely cast a blocker spell." the Demon Dragon groaned. "Maybe we could try sneaking up on him?" Roy suggested. "I doubt that'll work. He can take a hundred hits from a Crossbow Master's Snipe attack and still not die." the Leviathan sighed. "There just might be a way, but it's risky." Daniel announced. All heads turned to face him. "How?" was the first word that came out of our mouths. "Look, if you DO use this method, you'll die." he said glumly. I was shocked. We would die!? "Even if you use that method, there's a very low chance of you beating Saevio." he added. "I can't stop you if you really want to do it. This method involves a very complicated spell, namely a sacrificing spell. You will have to sacrifice your body to gain the full power of the Inner and Exzas Beasts, increasing your level tenfold for a period of time. As the Inner Beasts cannot live without a host body, and this spell will have you sacrificing yours, you will instantly die when your time ends. The spiritual energy created from you sacrificing your body can only last so long." Daniel's words echoed in my head. The only way to defeat Saevio was to...... sacrifice ourselves...... That night, I flipped through the book of Inner Beasts and found the Centurion Mode pages had appeared. I instantly located the sacrificing spell. The description was exactly as Daniel had described. I couldn't believe it. Alexis, if she had been forced to make a decision, would surely choose to sacrifice ourselves. One life to save thousands, no, millions more. Two lives if I joined in. I quickly memorized the incantation in case we ever needed to use it and went to bed, a cold clammy feeling hanging around my heart. |
