Chapter 81: Battle The Balrogs swooped out of the sky and attempted to claw Alexis and Daniel to shreds. However, Daniel easily beheaded one with a well-aimed Strafe while Alexis merely bashed hers on the head. It crumbled to dust. "Way too easy." Daniel smiled. Darkness started to envelop me as I slowly charged up a demonic art. "Oh no you don't!" an arrow flew into the energy field, disrupting my charging and giving me a leg wound. Again, it healed. "Darn it! No matter how many times we hit her, she heals!" he swore. I picked myself up and placed my hand on the blade of the Lodenir. It started to emit a faint yellow glow and an energy ball formed at its tip. I threw it at Alexis. A direct hit. She was thrown back through a wall. No... Alexis! I concentrated and tried to take back my body, but all my attempts were futile. I swept my hair back and turned to the back. An arrow bounced off my helmet and I whipped around to find a scarecrow. "Hmmm?" I mumbled and the next thing I knew, there was a dagger on my throat. "Give me back my son." Daniel said clearly. "Oh, are you sure you want to kill me? If you do, she dies too." I laughed. His eyes widened as my foot swung backwards. Another scarecrow and arrows started raining from the sky. "Guardian!" I commanded. A telekinetic shield appeared in the air and deflected the arrows. "You suck. Iron Arrow!" his voice came from behind me. A steel arrow pierced through my stomach and embedded itself in a wall. "Urgh..." I coughed out blood as the wound healed. "I forgot to tell you this. I can use a Sniper's skills as well as a Ranger's." he smiled. "Darn you!" I shouted and swung the Lodenir at Daniel. He ducked it, but I clipped off part of his ponytail. "Great." he muttered. I jumped backwards, sensing a sudden influx of mana into his bow. "Blizzard!" he commanded. An icy arrow zoomed past my ear. "You missed." I wagged my finger at him. "I wasn't aiming for you." he smiled. I looked behind me to see the arrow embedded in a...... Puppet. "Oh." Ice shards suddenly started raining from the air. Most broke into pieces upon contact with my armour, but one hit my right hand. I dropped the Lodenir and held my injured hand tightly. "Rule number one, keep your eyes open in combat. You just violated it." Daniel's voice echoed from behind me. I looked around to see him holding the Lodenir. "What the!? GIVE ME THAT BACK!" I roared. The Lodenir started to vibrate, but Daniel kept his grip on it tight. "Good......" I thought. Suddenly, the Akasha Charm started to glow. "Enough! Come back. You have collected enough souls for now." the Pianus's voice rang through my head. "But the Lodenir......" "Leave it. There will be other opportunities to retrieve it." "Understood." "Well, sorry, but my master orders me to return now." I smiled. "What? Let's finish our fight first!" Daniel shouted, nocking four arrows to his bowstring. "Some other time." I laughed as smoke surrounded me. A hole appeared in the ground and I dropped in. "COWARD!!!" "She got away......" Daniel sighed. Alexis walked out of the rubble, slightly wobbly but otherwise fine. "Ugh...... Where'd she go?" she said. "Escaped. Now we have no idea where she'll show up next." he mumbled. My blood-stained armour clanked off as I stepped into a pool of clear white water. I immersed myself in it and exhaled deeply. Bubbles floated out of my nose. I suddenly realized I could move my own body again! I sat up and glanced at my hair. It was all messed up from the fighting earlier. I would need to brush it sometime...... Great, girlish thoughts again. I sighed. My chest started to glow faintly as a few souls flew out of it towards the Pianus standing before me. "As long as you remain in contact with this water, you may retain control of your own body." it explained. "Thanks. Now I can kill you!" I shouted and clenched my hands into fists. I ran towards the Pianus only to find myself walking back to the pool slowly. "You cannot attack me as long as you possess the Akasha Charm." the Pianus laughed. I was forced to sit in the pool. "By the way, you will have to fulfill the needs of the Akasha Charm, or you will feel severe pain." it said before it disappeared into thin air. "Now, let's measure your chest size. You know you want to." a voice echoed through my head. Hey yes, I wanted to...... NOT AGAIN! The next thing I knew, there was a measuring tape floating on the water beside me. I groaned. "Ooh, the men are going to flock to you. 1.5 metres." the Akasha Charm crooned. I was starting to get sick of this! The Pianus suddenly appeared in front of me again. "I believe you will need another Akasha Charm. It appears that you are somewhat... different from the last bearer." it laughed. Another gem appeared in front of me. "Pick it up." it urged me. "You gotta be kidding me!" I groaned and picked it up. It started to pulse. "I don't want it!" I shouted and tried to thow it away. It stuck to my palm like glue. "I won't be that easy to get rid of. Now, drop me on your back." it's voice rang through my head. I felt pain shooting through my arm and I was forced to comply. I dropped it on my back and it slid down in between my buttocks. Something squirmed there and eventually settled down. "Not exactly where I wanted, but nevertheless a spot necessary for a good body." it noted. "Perfect. Now I have more control over you......" the Pianus smiled. I sighed. "Your next target will be a......" |
