Chapter 79: The Akasha Charm

"The first ritual is now over." Lynx announced to us. I was panting wildly and blood was leaking from wounds all over my body. "I believe it is time for the second ritual. You should be thankful because I'm letting you die with happy thoughts! Eternal Drea......AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!" she screamed. Alexis and me fell to the ground as the black cloud above disappeared and a shark appeared beside us with a smoking gun as an arm. Lynx was clutching her arm in pain. However, there were no visible wounds! "Darn, missed her heart." the shark mumbled. "Lorelei!" Alexis cried out. The shark smiled and muttered an incantation. "Heal!" it shouted and a green light bathed us. Our wounds disappeared along with the pain and I got up, summoning the Archaeion.

"Lynx, what in the world are you doing!?" Lorelei glared at Lynx. "Another one of your friends? Puny." she smiled and gripped her sword tighter. "Tracer!" I mumbled, staring at the hilt of her sword. An invisible dot appeared on it and I quickly loaded an arrow only to find that the mark had disappeared. "Tracking dots are too easy to cancel out." Lynx laughed. "Lorelei! Aim for that thing on her chest!" I whispered in Lorelei's ear. She nodded and retreated to a safe distance after I heard her mumble, "Sniper mode!"

"I put a magic blocking spell on your clothes when you took them off earlier. That's why your souls aren't gone yet." the Leviathan explained. "Thanks." I muttered. It didn't reply. "You can't activate Centurion Mode here, that woman's Akasha Charm will suck our spirits out if we do, since we have to come out of your bodies in order to perform the complete merging." the Demon Dragon stared at the gem on Lynx's chest. "Oh well, guess we'll have to fight her normally." I sighed.

Lynx started to swing the Lodenir in a circle, forming a small pool of wind at her feet. "Typhoon Boom!" she shouted and a spinning whip-like vortex of air emerged from her spinning sword. "Whoa!" I jumped over it only to get hit when it came back. I flew back a few metres and dug a trench in the sand a few centimetres deep. I got stuck in the sand as a result. I tried to dig my way out, but something was holding me back! "Artemis!" Alexis cried out and ran towards me. "Look out!" I warned her. The swirling whip of air nearly hit her as she ducked. "It's way faster than that." Lynx smiled. Suddenly, it disappeared along with Lynx. "Uhoh." I thought. Alexis looked around wildly but failed to spot her. I could, though. She was moving towards me so fast I could barely see her.

"Thousand Fist!" she yelled and her fist slammed into my back. It felt like a thousand punches in the same spot! I coughed out blood and looked around. She was holding the Lodenir to my throat. "Mind telling me your chest size before I kill you?" she smiled. "How am I supposed to tell you if I haven't measured it before!" I replied bluntly. "Too bad." she mumbled and the sword's blade edged closer to my neck. "Wait! Before you kill us, mind telling me your master's real name?" the Demon Dragon suddenly asked. "Since you're about to die, it wouldn't matter. His name is...... Arthur." Lynx replied.

"Arthur!? No...... impossible! He would never do something like this!" the Demon Dragon thought.

"Death......blow........." her voice droned off into space. The Lodenir fell to the ground softly and Lynx collapsed. A trickle of blood dripped from my neck onto the sand. "Huh?" I stared at her. "Artemis... Alexis, get outta here, fast!" her voice echoed through my mind. "What the heck..." I thought aloud. "I can't keep the gem down for long, hurry!" Lynx said. "No, I won't go until I've freed you from whatever's controlling you." I replied and reached for the gem on her chest. However, her eyes suddenly opened and I quickly slipped my fingers around the gem. Surprisingly, it came off easily, but Lynx had quickly moved her arm towards mine to throw me off when I had removed the gem. The Akasha Charm flew up into the air. "Uhoh." the Demon Dragon breathed and my legs started to kick the sand. "Get out of the way! Fast!!!" it shouted as the gem started to fall...... towards me.

I couldn't get out of the way fast enough as my body was stuck in the sand. The Akasha Charm landed on my chest and a scream of pain erupted from my mouth. It seemed to...... phase into my body and I started to lose control over myself. "Oh crap, Artemis! I'm sorry......" Lynx started to cry. "At least this host has a better-shaped body." I laughed. She stared at me. "Uhoh." I thought. Her spirit rose up through her mouth and flew into my chest. She collapsed to the ground, unconscious. The Demon Dragon wasn't talking.

I floated out of the ground and muttered an incantation. "Artemis?" Alexis turned towards me. The Lodenir flew into my hands and a rune appeared behind me. Her face turned white. A portal appeared in the air beside me and I floated into it.

"Hmmm? Interesting." the Abyssal Pianus stood before me, staring at me with a curious look on its face. I knelt down in front of it and stabbed the Lodenir into the ground. "I live to serve you, master." I found myself saying. "I see. You will need more souls to channel more powerful demonic arts. I will begin the transfer now." the Pianus closed its eyes and souls started to float out of its head towards me. I laid down on the ground and exhaled deeply. Nothing happened. "What is that garment you're wearing? It's hindering the soul transfer." the Pianus looked at my bra. "Begone!" it roared and it crumbled to pieces. The souls flew into my chest and it expanded. "Every time you suck a soul in, your chest will grow permanently." the Pianus explained. Great, just great.

"Darn, I got here too late." Zephyr looked at Lynx's lifeless body. "I went too far away to come back in time." Lorelei sighed. "Artemis......" I hoped she was still okay. Would I ever see her again?
