Chapter 72: Aqua Road "Pianus? I guess you're going off to try and kill it then. There's an express route down the tower over there. Be careful." the soldier pointed at the opening of a tube beside the tower. It was quite large and could easily fit the 3 of us. "Captain Lynx, wish you good luck!" all of the soldiers saluted her and she saluted them back without a word. Suddenly, I spotted a ballista being aimed towards the tube just as Lynx was about to enter it. "Look out!" I shouted as the ballista launched a bolt. She glanced back at me just as the tube snapped in half from the impact of the bolt. "Captain!" someone yelled and she quickly clambered back. "That was too close for comfort. WHO AUTHORIZED THAT SHOT!?" she shouted. I spotted a dark figure leaping off the ballista and I quickly gave chase. However, as I rounded a corner, it disappeared! I returned to the others and breathed, "Someone didn't want us leaving." "Good thing we had those climbing ropes ready." a soldier handed some ropes over to Lynx and she strapped them to the top of the tower deftly. Alexis and me ran over to her and she dragged us onto the ropes too. "Go!" she said and we began rappeling down the tower walls. "How high is this damn tower!?" I was starting to get tired. "20 floors." Lynx replied, not even sweating. Alexis wasn't either. Suddenly, my fingers slipped and I began to fall! "Oh crap!" I cried out. I landed on something soft and white. "We're here." Lynx announced, dropping off the rope. I scrambled to my feet and patted snow off my clothes. "Anyway, we'll need to go into the tower to go to Aqua Road, where Pianus is." she added, swinging open the tower door. "Whoa!!!" she suddenly disappeared! I ran to the entrance and barely managed to stop myself from falling into a seemingly bottomless hole! "Lynx!" Alexis charged in and fell into the hole. "Crap." I hesitated for a second, then jumped in. A scream came from lower down and I quickly shifted my body's position to maximize speed. I hit red-coloured water a second later and was met by a school of small fish with horns jutting out of their heads. "Doom Guppies, ranked B9." the Dark Dragon mumbled. "They don't look THAT powerful to me." I admitted. Suddenly, one transformed into a shark with a sharp nose. "I stand corrected." I quickly began to swim away. However, the limp bodies of Lynx and Alexis floated up from the depths! "Oh god......" I was shocked. Their bodies were littered with slash wounds! "This water...... It's not normal! Get the hell out of here!" the Dark Dragon shouted and kicked my legs. I grabbed Alexis and Lynx and began to swim for our lives. A shark suddenly started to prod my buttocks and I gritted my teeth in pain, resisting the urge to scream. I felt like I was going to suffocate. Oh crap, not now! I ran out of air and breathed that one last fatal breath. I fainted on the spot. |
