Chapter 71: Old Friend "We've been flying for hours now. Are you sure we're heading towards Orbis?" Alexis grumbled. "Actually, I'm not sure. Dark Dragon, any clue?" I sighed. "You just flew over it." the Dark Dragon admitted and we looked backwards. The tip of Orbis Tower peeked through the clouds and we quickly slowed down. However, a cannonball whizzed past us. "What the...... Oof!" a cannonball hit me in the stomach and I coughed out blood. Alexis quickly flew over to me. "I'm... fine." I gasped for air and another cannonball hit my right wing. "Argh!" I screamed and began to fall. "Hold your fire!" I heard someone shout from below. Alexis managed to help stabilize me, but we couldn't maintain altitude and began to descend. Alexis unsheathed her Kotetsu and prepared to fight whatever was waiting for us down there. "......" I was staring into the barrel of a loaded cannon. "Hold your fire! Hold your......" someone yelled just before a cannonball hit my back. I coughed out blood and fell to the ground. "Gandor! You idiot!" that same voice shouted and hands closed around my body. I slapped them off and tried to get up. "Why, they're just girls!" someone said. Alexis had ducked the last cannonball and was now staring at the contigent of soldiers surrounding us. "I would suggest that you dress yourselves before the soldiers start getting nosebleeds." a female soldier in silver armour streaked with gold stepped out of the crowd and gasped when she saw Alexis. "Alexis!?" the soldier ran to hug her and the two embraced each other. "Lynx! What are you doing here?" she said happily. "Long story. Let's get you some clothes first. Who's the other girl?" Lynx glanced at me. "Long story too." Alexis sighed and propped me up. Lynx led us through the crowd of soldiers, which made way for her towards a stone building. "Ouch!" I grunted as Alexis wrapped bandages around me. "The fairies in Orbis got scared when they heard that a massive Balrog had started appearing in place of the normal crimsons. They started hiring people to defend the city in case the Balrog ever came here. I got snapped up the moment I walked out of the 20th floor's exit." Lynx explained. Alexis nodded and cut the bandage with the Kotetsu. "You still haven't told me who's the girl yet." Lynx grumbled. "Oh, sorry. By the way, he's someone, oops, she's someone both of us know." Alexis smiled. "He?" Lynx eyed her cautiously. "Don't tell me." her face paled. "Okay, I won't." Alexis replied. "You actually beat up that Balrog?" Lynx's jaw was wide open. "Wasn't easy. It got us in an Eternal Dream and almost ate our souls......" I explained. Hey, wait a second. What was the world in that dream? It seemed slightly familiar...... "Eternal Dream!? But......but that's an ancient demonic spell!" Lynx stammered. "It's not easy to break!" she added, shivering slightly. "Piece of cake." the Demon Dragon and the Leviathan grunted simultaneusly. "Who's that!?" Lynx looked around wildly. "Spiritual Form, Manifest!" I commanded and the Demon Dragon appeared in the air beside me, although in a smaller size and half-transparent. Alexis did the same and the Leviathan appeared, again, half-transparent. "Waaa!" Lynx stumbled backwards and turned a sofa on its back, broke a flowerpot, bashed her head on the wall and fainted. "Are we that scary?" the Demon Dragon turned towards the Leviathan. They shrugged. |
