Chapter 64: The Demon Bosses "That...... is one heck of a huge Mushmom......" a person with a hat emblazoned with the letters, "GM" said. "It's not in the programming!" another exclaimed, dodging a ripple of rolling earth. "Hurricane!" another shouted, unleashing a flurry of arrows towards the beast. It's image fizzled for a second and the arrows passed through it. "Whoa! We'd better get outta here!" the first one yelled, opening a mystic door. Suddenly, the Mushmom charged past the trio and entered the portal. "You just......" the other two glared at the first one. A scream of "HELP!!!" suddenly erupted through the portal. "We'd better go." the third GM nodded to the others and entered the door. "Mushmom....... chaos........ Henesys........" the news report cut off after showing a picture of the huge Mushmom terrorizing Henesys for a split second. "I suggest we leave, and fast." Daniel said, grabbing his Golden Arund and twanging the string gently. He fished out a few red arrows from the workshop and put them in his quiver. I also took a few red arrows and I summoned the Archaeion with some help from Daniel. Alexis readied her Kotetsu while Keichii tested the spikes on his Rigol sword and Roy touched the tips of his Ilbi throwing stars. "I'm staying at home." Fielda insisted and ran into the kitchen. "Whoa." was the only word I could say when I saw the massive Mushmom. It had horns poking out of its head and small wings on its back. It looked evern fiercer than when it was on the news report. "Get back!" one person with a cap labeled GM was desperately trying to defend himself. Another two with the same caps were firing arrows at the Mushmom. It suddenly jumped up and landed on the ground, creating an earthquake. Rocks cracked and the earth opened up in a ravine, heading towards the five of us. I eyed the crack and chanted, "Dark powers within me, heed my words and imbue me with thy power! Awaken!" The Huntress eyed the crack cautiously and all of a sudden, great black wings burst out of her back along with a long tail. "Whoa! But I thought the Inner Beasts were stuff of legend!" one GM yelled, dodging an energy beam. "Move." the Huntress's voice echoed, layered with another strange voice. "Let's move. From what I hear, only the Inner Beasts can take down monsters as strong as these." another GM called out and all of them immediatly stepped back to safety. "Double Strafe Hurricane!" I roared and nocked eight arrows to the bowstring all at once. All of them flew out and eight more arrows appeared on the string again. I continued bombarding the Mushmom with the skill until it unleashed a black energy beam towards me. "Guardian!" Alexis commanded, running in front of me and holding the Kotetsu tight. A clear white circular shield burst out of the blade and dispersed the energy beam. The Mushmom seemed to c0ck its head slightly and a Hellhound suddenly appeared behind me. "I'll handle these guys. You two take that beast out!" Kei shouted, walloping off the head of the Hellhound completely by surprise. "Ye shall not be so lucky the next time." the Mushmom boomed. Great stone statues suddenly appeared around the Mushmom. "Light begone!" it's voice echoed throughout the town. The sky turned black and cloudy as one single massive rune appeared on the spot on which it stood. "A demonic art. Careful." the Siren warned. All of sudden, the stone statues came to life and began blowing black fire all over the town! "Death Angelsss! They're A8 ranked, ssso be very careful!" the Basilisk hissed. "Dark Dragon Form!" "Siren Form!" "Basilisk Form!" Each of us with an Inner Beast immediatly went into our separate forms. Daniel stepped back, continually launching rains of arrows at the Mushmom. I flew upwards and engaged one of the Death Angels in battle while Keichii slashed at another and Alexis took on Mushmom. "Foolsss...... You shall never defeat usss! Imperial Judgement!" the Death Angel I was fighting hissed and a beam of black light shot down from the sky. I narrowly managed to dodge it only to get clawed in the stomach. I coughed out blood and gripped the Archaeion tighter. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Alexis hovering in the air above a small hole in the ground. "Alexis!" I yelled "Gaia Strike!" the Death Angel cried out and a shower of rocks fell from the sky towards me. I quickly flew out of the way and slashed it in the wing with my sword. It screeched and clawed at me. I slashed off its arm when it tried and it fell to the ground and crumbled into dust. "Piece of cake." I swept back my hair. "Alexis!" Artemis shouted. I turned my head towards her and gasped. "You puny mortals shall never defeat me! Haa!" the Mushmom generated another earthquake, which I dodged by flying up into the air. Undaunted, it cried out, "Lava Spout!" My eyes widened as I was once again engulfed by the extremely hot lava. I heard Artemis yell, "Alexis!" as I fell towards a deep crack in the earth with a pool of lava sure to be deep underneath...... |
