Chapter 58: Afrodita's Rescue

The Assasin was looking glumly at the ceiling, kicking a box. Apparently he wasn't smart enough to realize the box had already broken and his feet were kicking the air. I resisted the temptation to laugh and petted the yeti, which I had named Fluffy. "Now, now, be good and wait until I come back, ok?" I said. Fluffy purred softly and nestled in my arms. I hugged it. "Let's go, Alexis." Ivan called over to me. I set the yeti down and ran off. "Mind if I tag along?" Roy asked, slipping Ilbis onto hooks on his belt. "Nope." Ivan replied, smiling. I gave my wings a little test flap and smiled. "Wings." Roy mumbled and his red and blue coloured wings burst out of his back. Ivan did the same and his great black wings appeared. "Handy to conserve energy for a fight." he remarked. We flapped our wings and ascended into the air. "That way." I pointed south-west. Roy and Ivan nodded, flying towards where I had pointed. I followed behind.

"Launch the Murasames!" someone shouted. The sounds of massive engines filled the air and the ground rumbled. Afrodita could only sit helplessly in a cage as a squadron of fighters took off and started to encircle the building.

"Something's not right." Ivan said. I could feel it too. Normally there would be birds chirping as we flew, but it was just too quiet. "I hear something." Roy put his hand to his ear. "Sonar." he mumbled. His face suddenly turned white. "Mobile suits." he whispered. Ivan slowed down. "What the heck are mobile suits doing here!?" he cried out. "Shhh..... Qui...... DIVE!!!" Roy yelled as a green beam cut through the air, aiming straight for my right wing. I ducked just in time, the beam narrowly missed me. "Holy......" Roy didn't finish his sentence. Beams pierced through his wings and he fell. "Roy!" I cried out and dived towards him. "Rejunevate!" I placed my hands on his chest. He woke up and desperately tried to maintain balance. I healed his wings with a basic healing spell and he started to fly low. He motioned for us to do the same and we lowered our flight path. Beams flew past us and hit the ground as we advanced towards the Fidelo Corporation's building. Sure enough, robots were flying around the building, aiming beam rifles at us.

"How'd they get here?" I wondered and flew up above a robot. "Archaeion! Impact Cannon!" I shouted. The Archaeion materialized in my hand and I launched an arrow. I managed to take out the head with the arrow onlt to get slapped in the back by another robot. I plummeted towards the ground and Alexis caught me. The robot who's head I had destroyed flailed around and accidentally slammed into one of his buddies. The other robots immediatly propped it up and carried it towards a flat section on the building.

We took the chance to hurry into the building. Strangely, there were no guards. "Probably thinking the Murasames would take care of us." Roy mumbled under his breath. I took the lead and ran towards the lab where I thought Afrodita would be imprisoned. She was there all right, hammering against the bars of her cage. "Sis! Get away! It's a trap!" she cried out. I ignored her and primed my foot. "Get away!" I said, slamming my foot into the cage bars. Some of the bars broke and Afrodita crawled out. "Look behind you." she pointed and Ivan turned around. "Shi-" a strange looking beam hit him squarely in the chest and he collapsed to the ground. I fell to my knees and cried out, "Ivan!"

"I'm...... I'm fine..." I got up weakly, feeling rather strange. My vision began to blur as I pulled myself up to look at a woman standing in the doorway, armed with a strange-looking rifle and guarded by quite a number of men. The men were all wearing black suits and armed with assault rifles. "Drop your weapons and put your hands in the air!" the woman commanded. I prepared to summon the Archaeion, only to receive a bullet in my palm for my trouble. "Don't try anything, or they'll shoot." she laughed. Alexis's face suddenly turned white. "Carmen Fidelo." she stuttered.

"Carmen Fidelo." I stuttered. "Glad you still remember me!" she laughed. "Siren, embodiment of Ice and Water, awaken!" I chanted. Nothing happened. "Wha...? Awaken! Awaken!" I shouted. Nothing happened again. "Magic Blocker." William's voice came from behind Carmen. "Not you again!" I said. "Yes me again. Vampire teeth regrow pretty fast by the way." he snickered. A steely suddenly stuck itself on my leg and I cried out in pain. "Alexis! Why you......" Ivan yelled, summoning the Archaeion despite the pain in his hand. "Double Shot!" he shouted, nocking two arrows to his string and firing both at once. The arrows disintegrated in mid-air. "Wall." William announced. An invisible wall shimmered into focus in front of Carmen and her guards. Ivan cursed and ducked as bullets flew straight for him.

Suddenly, Ivan began to pulse and he vomited blood on the floor. "Ivan?" I touched him tentatively. Some sort of electrical shock shot through my finger and I pulled away, holding my finger. He vomited again. "What's going on!? What did you do to him!?" I rounded on Carmen. She laughed and fired the rifle she was holding at Ivan. A green ray of light burst out of the nozzle as I ran into its path to shield Ivan. "Ahhh!!!" I screamed, falling to the ground. "Move." she pointed at me. "Ne..ver..." I mumbled weakly and stood up again. Carmen tossed her gun to a nearby guard and he aimed at Ivan from an angle at which I couldn't move in time to block. Nevertheless, I tried. The light ray hit Ivan before I managed to get in its way and he pulsed again, vomiting more blood.

"Crap." I thought as I watched Alexis and Ivan getting pummeled. I threw an Ilbi at the rifle and hit its nozzle. The rifle exploded, showering the guards and Carmen with green liquid. All of a sudden, they were snails. "Now that's something to laugh at!" I laughed as the snails slithered out of the room slowly, one with a pink shell seeming to glare at a black-shelled one. "Let's get you outta here, you guys." I propped Ivan up while the...... cute-looking female Bandit helped Alexis to her feet. She was the same person I had bumped into a few months ago back at the Henesys potion shop!

As Roy walked in he bumped into a female thief just walking out. "Oh, sorry." he apologized. "Its okay." the female thief, who's name was Aphrodita, replied and walked away. Roy, in the meantime was looking at her with a "lovey" expression on his face. He continued into the potion shop while still looking at her and ran into the door, which the Keichii had closed behind him.

Roy looked at Afrodita and blushed. My jaw would have dropped if I weren't feeling strange now. "We'd better get outta here!" she said, ignoring Roy. I vomited another quart of blood onto the floor. We walked out the door and into the nearby forest of cement as mobile suits in the air scanned the surrounding area. Roy laid me down beside a building and went to check on Alexis. She wasn't feeling too good either, her face looked slightly green and she was also vomiting blood. Suddenly, my body pulsed again. I felt my hair growing longer and my arms felt shorter as well. "Ivan! What in the world......" Alexis cried out just as I blacked out.
