Chapter 53: Strange Happenings

The egg in my arms was starting to get cold as we flew over the ocean, skimming the water. Ivan hurriedly blew a small fireball at it to keep it warm. Lorelei had told me that the egg should be kept warm or else the baby inside would die. "Almost there." Ivan said as we neared the Sixtopia Dock of Ellinia. A ship was just about to leave and we flew upwards to avoid being seen. The ship flew past, sails billowing in the wind and thrusters blazing. We flew over the treetops towards Perion, dispatching the occasional witch with either one of Ivan's fireballs or my icicles. Those witches screeched horribly as they fell to the ground. Eventually, we reached Perion and landed on our house's archery range. We returned to our original forms and Ivan fainted. I carried him into the house and rested him on our bed. However, the egg suddenly started to vibrate, a sign that it was getting cold again. I quickly put it on the stove and turned it on. A moment later, it was out of the critical stage. I heaved a sigh of relief and pulled up a chair, sitting beside the egg. I fell asleep a few minutes later from exhaustion.

"HELP!!!" my sleep was broken by a scream from outside. I jumped out of my chair and went to the balcony, only to have a black lightning bolt fly past my ear and hitting a plant. It turned into stone. A Balrog was hovering in the air, glaring at me. Not those Balrogs again! I drew my sword and prepared to fight. Suddenly, the Balrog seemed to form a symbol in the air and a big rune appeared in the air. Hey wait...... Balrogs couldn't do that! A red coloured lightning bolt appeared above me and I leapt to the side, only to get blown of the balcony by an explosion created by it. I landed roughly on the ground and my sword landed in front of me with a clatter. I reached for it only to have the Balrog land in front of me. "Crap." I muttered as the Balrog opened its mouth and reached for me. A yell of, "HURRICANE!!!" broke that tense moment as hundreds of arrows flew through the air and embedded themselves in the Balrog's back. It howled in pain and turned around. Ivan was hovering in the air, Archaeion at the ready, wings and tail out and eyes completely black. The Demon Dragon screeched, "How dare you try to kidnap my wife! You will pay!!!" and nocked an arrow to the string. "DRAGON PULSE!" Ivan yelled and launched the arrow. The arrow had mana flowing around it in the shape of a dragon's head as it flew straight towards the Balrog's head. However, it merely laughed and disappeared into thin air. "What in the world? Mind's Eye!" Ivan closed his eyes and muttered, "Shyt." as a bony arm came crashing down on his neck. He fell to the ground, unconsious as the Balrog shimmered into focus behind him, laughing cruelly. I picked up my sword and threw it with all my might at it, only to have it disappear again.

Suddenly, teeth sank into my back armour plate and I was lifted into the air. I flapped my wings as an attempt to destabilize the Balrog's flight but to no avail, it was simply too strong! A second later, something sticky enveloped my wings and they ceased to move. "Like my Shadow Web?" the Balrog...... spoke? "What the heck is going on!? Let me go!" I struggled. "Yeah, sure, and you'll fall from a few kilometres in the sky. Your remains won't be pretty." the Balrog cackled and I saw it had a point. We were already quite high up in the sky, and if I fell from this height without my wings, I would die. It continued to fly and I soon realized where we were going. The steel and cement buildings of Kerning City appeared in front of us and the Balrog landed on a landing pad. "Nice work, Jake." a woman appeared beside us, clapping her hands. Jake? Now where have I heard that name before...... "My pleasure, Miss Carmen." the Balrog bowed down low. Suddenly, it hit me.

Suddenly, there was a crashing sound and one of the men fell mid-laugh with an arrow in his chest. Ivan was looking in the window sternly as he loaded another arrow. "Jake! You bastard! I'll kill you!!!" one of the men said, firing his gun at Ivan.

Jake was one of the members of the Fidelo Gang! But, wasn't he killed by Ivan? And why was he here? "You only managed to do this thanks to my expertise in DNA analysis." Carmen scoffed and pointed at me. "Bring her to the lab." she added and walked into a nearby elevator. The doors closed behind her and a motor whirred. Suddenly, it started to rain. The Balrog threw me into another nearby elevator and pushed a button after tying me up and waiting for a few men wearing black suits stepped in and grinned at me. The doors closed and the elevator started to descend......

"Let me go!" I kicked and screamed. One of the men rounded on me and punched my cheeks. "Shut up!" he shouted as the door opened. One of the men picked me up and carried me into a large and expansive circular room. Multiple vats stood lined up against the wall, some empty, some containing human bodies, and some containing monsters. Among them were the horned slimes that had been used to torture me back in Dark Castle. "Don't you like 'em? We sent a few to the Dark Ten as a bit of a...... present." Carmen remarked from the middle of the room, standing on top of a elevated section of the floor with computers crammed around it. She walked down and looked over me. One of the men cried out, "I wanna have some fun with her!" Carmen snapped back, "I'll let you have her after I soften up her skin okay? Then I'll avenge my husband's death." The men whooped.

Carmen threw me into an empty vat and pressed a button. The top closed and grey liquid rose up. My armour dissolved on contact and so did the ropes binding me, revealing my bare skin. Most of the men "wooed" in pleasure and some pressed their faces to the vat's transparent walls to look at me. Carmen merely smiled and pressed another button. The grey liquid turned to maroon and I started to feel strange. "Softening agent. That'll soften up your skin so the boys can...... really have some fun with you." she cackled and walked out of the room. I was left alone in the room, unable to do anything. Even the Siren couldn't respond to my cries for help.
