Chapter 49: Pure Torture

I could only watch helplessly as Alexis was abducted yet again. By the time Fielda and Daniel responded to my call for help and ran up, the portal had closed. Daniel closed his eyes and muttered, "Mind's Eye.". He opened them again and announced, "I dont know where she was taken.". He pointed at a piece of cloth on the ground and said, "That cloth has really strong dark energies around it. That means she was taken to somewhere sinister." I sank my head into my pillow and started to cry softly. I was unable to do anything while Alexis was maplenapped! Stupid hand! Fielda ran her hand over the remaining flecks of energy from the portal and muttered, "Contain." A bottle appeared in her hand and the energy flowed into it. She corked the bottle up and gave it to me. "That energy might give us a clue. Try checking the Inner Beasts book." she said. I ran to the library and flipped open the book for some intensive research. I didn't come out for a whole day, and when I did, I collapsed onto the floor from lack of sleep.

I woke up back in our bedroom, Daniel lying asleep beside me. Now it was midnight and the full moon shone over the house, bathing it in the rays of light. I retrieved the book from the library and flipped back to the page I had left it at. The pictures of "Telepathy" and "Body Switch" looked up at me from the page. Alexis... I'm coming! "Telepathy!" I commanded while closing my eyes. Swirls of mana flowed into my head as I thought about Alexis furiously. A minute later, the fuzzy mist inside my mind cleared up and I was looking out of Alexis's eyes. "Ivan? Is that you?" I heard her think. "Yeah, it's me. I'm going to perform a spell that'll switch our bodies and put me in your place so you can come back. Are you ready?" I thought. Her vision nodded and she thought, "But...... Won't you...AAARRRGH!!!" "Alexis!? ALEXIS!?" I shouted in my mind. She didn't reply. "Darn it!" I slammed my right fist into the floor. My wrist had now recovered and I could use my bow again. I loaded my quiver with arrows and prepared to cast Body Switch. The Dark Dragon's powers flooded into me as I chanted, "Quantum space heed my words, switch the body of Alexis the Siren with me, Ivan the Dark Dragon. Body Switch!" Nothing happened. The Dark Dragon said, "Something's blocking the spell! We won't be able to get her out now!" "Shyt!" I cursed.

Ivan's voice crackled into nothingness as I sank to the ground. Silfa had activated some sort of force field that was blocking all spells Ivan could cast to get me out. A blue network of blue streams enveloped the cage I was in. Looking at the bits of slime around me, I realized I had no choice. I slowly inched a bit of the slime near my head only to have Silfa notice and cackle, "The slime will become radioactive on contact with saliva, so don't eat it. Hahaha!" I froze. Silfa had thought of everything. I had absolutely no way out! Even the slime was starting to look tasty to me, but I resisted the urge to gulp a bit down. Who knows what might happen to me if I did? Silfa pointed at a cage beside me and I turned. A Drake was fighting one of the horned slimes and it had beaten it. When the Drake gulped down the remains of the slime, it's skin turned green and it......liquidated! "Thats what happens when you eat 'em." she smirked as the remains of the drake, now green slime, flooded into my cage. A dripping green drake skull drifted onto my stomach and I took it up, trying to break the cage bars with it. The skull crumbled into powder on the first hit. Suddenly, the slime around me started to smoke and I looked at myself. The swimsuit I was wearing had dissolved into red powder and I was now left completely naked, yet again. Why did these things always happen to me?

The slime changed colour to purple as I watched. It seemed a lot more tempting to gulp down. It was now or never. Even if I didn't eat the slime I would die anyway. I crammed a handful of it into my mouth and tried not to feel the pain searing through my body. Suddenly, my skin changed colour to green and I closed my eyes. Pain coursed through my back as I felt something melt. I was finally going to die...... My vision started to blur as I fainted.

I woke up in the cage. I looked over my body and realized I wasn't dead. Actually it was the complete opposite. My stomach felt full and my wounds were healed. There was something strange though, my back was feeling heavy. When I looked to my back, green wings were behind me. I stumbled and sat down in the slime. Nothing was behind me. Even stranger, my legs had melded and become the Siren's tail. When I put my hand to my back, I felt the root of a wing on my back. There was no blood. I had grown wings! "Now this is strange......" the Siren muttered. My hair was now purple coloured and could have reached my foot if I still had legs. Silfa walked in and gasped at me. "How......how did you..." she stuttered. I still couldn't break through the bars though. Her scared face turned into one of glee as she said, "No matter, the stretching rack should still be able to fit you." She walked over to my cage and pushed a button. My cage started to hover and she pushed me up the stairs and into another room. A blood-splattered table stood in the center of the room with four chains tethered to it. Silfa injected something into my chest and my body froze. She opened the door and carried me out and onto the table. "Ooof. You're heavy." she grunted. A vein twitched on my forehead. She fastened the chains to my hands and my tail. She then pushed a button and the chains started to retract into the walls, stretching my body.
