Chapter 46: Kotetsu

"Nonono, hold the bow like this!" Daniel said, rearranging Ivan's fingers around his bow. He nodded and pulled back the string only to have Daniel fussing over the way he pulled it. Ivan sighed and complied. Fielda was sitting on a nearby chair watching the two of them while I read the book about Inner Beasts. Suddenly, I came across a picture of a strange sword. There were numerous holes in the blade and it had a winged hilt.

Kotetsu

This katana was specially forged for the use of the Inner Beasts. The holes in it are used as a more effective way of channeling mana while the hilt was forged with dragon's blood to help focus mana more easily. Most effective in close-quarters combat.

"Ahhh...... The Kotetsu. I remember that one." Daniel suddenly appeared behind me and I jumped. "I found it when I mauled a zombie mushmom to death. I mean it practically." he added, smiling. "Then why don't you have it with you?" I asked curiously. He replied, "I lost it after a house-cleaning day. Your mother can't differentiate between trash and treasure." Fielda suddenly appeared behind him and whacked him on the head. "Can't I even make some jokes?" Daniel whined, massaging a bump on his head. "Seriously!" she muttered and stamped off in a temper. "She's quite hot-headed isn't she?" he whispered in my ear and a rock flew out of nowhere and hit him on the head. "I heard that!" Fielda's voice rang out from behind a corner. "Geez......" Daniel muttered and took off after Fielda, yelling, "I was only joking!" Ivan laughed until he got a stitch in his side. I resisted the urge to laugh as Daniel's voice came from the house "Awwww...... Come on!"

We sat down to dinner along with Fielda, Daniel was nowhere to be seen. "Probably off somewhere crying." she said angrily and burnt her finger on the stove. Like mother like daughter I suppose...... I was just starting to get on my fish when the door suddenly burst open, revealing a tired Daniel. He was grasping something in his fist. He walked over to me and put an object in my hand. A winged hilt. "This is......" I looked at him. "Don't ask." he said and went upstairs. A smell of trash followed him up and Fielda ran for the air freshener. I looked at the hilt in my palm. Where was the blade? Seeming to read my mind, a blade appeared out of nowhere and attached itself to the hilt. It was dotted with holes and reeked of trash. Ewww...... I went to the bathroom to wash the katana clean. I came out with the Kotetsu later. "Nice." Ivan remarked and twirled his hand expertly in the air. "Archaeion." he said clearly and a black and white bow with a red-eyed dragon's head engraved on it appeared in his hand. He glanced at my Kotetsu, then back at his Archaeion. "The Kotetsu is actually as lethal as the Archaeion." Daniel walked down, sniffing himself. "Although, I do think that the Archaeion looks cooler." he remarked, patting me on the back. I went to the dojo to try the Kotetsu out. Daniel conjured a brand new sheath out of nowhere and gave it to me. The Kotetsu slid in smoothly. It seemed to pur softly as it settled into its new home. When I tried to unsheath it, it shook violently and I relinquished it. "Give it some time to settle down, its not used to its new sheath yet." Daniel smiled at me.
