Chapter 41: The Journey Home

"Stay in my backpack! We wouldn't want people freaking out when they see you!" I hissed at the small yeti in my backpack. It squeaked and settled down nicely on one of my clothes. The climb up Orbis Tower was exhausting, as there were twenty floors and the yeti in my backpack was slightly heavy. I've heard people say that the Eos Tower in Ludibrium was a hundred floors tall. Now I was at the Orbis docks, preparing to leave for Victoria. A toy ship arrived at a nearby dock and a group of people got off, chatting up a storm. It left after a while, most probably back to Ludibrium. I suddenly noticed I forgot to buy a ticket and I rushed to the ticketing counter to buy one hurriedly. At 2000 mesos each, they were relatively cheaper than the ticket to Orbis from Victoria, which was priced at 8000 mesos. A horn sounded and I quickly picked up my backpack and ran for the ship. I ran aboard just as the take-off horn sounded and the boarding plank was pulled back and locked shut. As usual, there were a lot of people onboard, minding their own buisness. I could spot some people dueling each other as I walked towards the cabin. There were even some people playing cards, omok, chess and the occasional checkers. I opened the cabin door, walked in and looked for my room. I found it after a while and went in. The room was clean and tidy and I put down my backpack and sat on the bed. The view of the blue skies from the porthole was beautiful. The yeti jumped out of my backpack and into my arms and I rubbed it's head gently. It purred softly and went onto the bed. It fell asleep instantly and I could hear soft snoring. Poor little guy, must have been tired from the long climb up. I decided to go have a look around the deck.

An archer was firing arrows at the sky and shouting, "Goodbye, Orbis!". A few passer bys looked at him and smirked. I heard one person say, "What a waste of arrows." I rounded a corner and gasped. I walked past, trying to look innocent and hid in a corner. It was the Crusader that assaulted Ivan and me at Fielda's house was on the ship! He looked around and seemed to spot me, but he turned away and continued minding his own buisness. I heaved a sigh of relief and got up. I ran for my room in the cabin and locked the door tight. My yeti was still snoring away like it didn't have a care in the world. I stroked its fur and brought out my cellphone to call home.

Fielda's house......
*Ring ring* Fielda ran for the phone as fast as she could.

"Mother? It's me, Alexis." I said into the phone. Fielda replied, "Is that you? Gosh, you've been away for quite a while! The others all miss you! By the way, did you find that thingamajiggy that'll fix Ivan up?" I laughed and said, "Zakum's heart. Oh yeah, remember that guy that attacked us that day? He's on the ship!" Fielda's voice became grim, "Crap. Lay low for a while and keep Gakum's heart or whatever its called safe." I replied, "Okay. I will. Bye now.". I turned off the cellphone and laid down on the bed. Hopefully I got back in time to help Ivan. My eyes closed and I fell asleep.

*Squeak! Squeak!* A squeaking noise came from the door and I got up, rubbing my eyes. My jaw dropped when I saw what was happening. The Crusader was trying to fend off my yeti! He noticed me awake and charged at me. I quickly jumped off my bed and grabbed my backpack. I dodged the first slash and parried the second with my sword. Unexpectedly, the Crusader gave his sword a little twist and mine flew out of my hand, sticking itself on the wall. I quickly grabbed my sword and the yeti and ran for my life. It was early morning outside and not many people were outside, making it hard for me to hide. I spotted a few barrels lying around on the deck and I jumped into one, closing the lid behind me. Something inside the barrel was making a really sick smell. I looked around and found a lot of fish. Ewww...... I heard footsteps approaching and I pinched my nose shut. Stupid stinky fish...... Eventually I heard footsteps growing fainter and fainter and I ran for my room again. I jumped into the shower for a quick bath and checked myself. I still reeked of fish, even though it was quite faint. My backpack was still okay while my yeti was squeaking away in a corner. I pulled it out and hugged it. A few hours later, a horn sounded and I left the ship. I didn't see the Crusader among the crowd so I assumed it was safe. Once off the ship, I quickly hailed a taxi and drove off to Perion. The driver was cool about the yeti, he even gave it a fish to eat! I laughed as the yeti chomped the fish down and choked. I petted it on the back quickly.

An hour later, I arrived at Fielda's house. She, Roy and Keichii greeted us warmly and gasped at the yeti. I quickly hurried upstairs and brought out Zakum's heart. "How do I use it?" I asked the Siren. She replied, "Put it on his heart." I did so and the heart glowed black. It shattered into pieces after a while and Ivan's eyes came back to normal. He blinked and looked at me. Tears flowed out of my eyes and I hugged him. However, he asked blankly, "Who are you?". I felt like a stone had dropped inside my stomach. He looked around and asked, "Where am I?...... Who am I?". Fielda, who was watching from the next room, gasped. He had lost his memory......
