Chapter 39: Zakum "That, is one heck of a humongous monster." I gasped, looking up at the massive eight-armed monster known as Zakum. It roared and hit me into a wall with one of its arms, creating a small crater. I felt something crack and I hurriedly swallowed an Elixir. "Watch...... Arrgh!" Lynx was pushed back by an arm. "I'm going Siren form! Siren, embodiment of ice and water, awaken!" I chanted. My armour disappeared, leaving my legs room to melf together to become a long green scaly tail. My brown hair grew longer and changed colour into silver while my hands became green and scaly. "Ice, power of the North Pole, become my weapon! Ice Sword!" I shouted as Lynx threw a few water bottles into the air. The water from the bottles flew out and froze in my hand, forming an icy sword. I started hacking at an arm only to get hit into the wall again. I placed my palm on the blade of the sword and shouted, "Icepaler!". A long shard of ice flew out of my sword and towards Zakum's head. It blocked it with an arm and fired a lightning bolt at me. It missed my tail by an inch. Lynx was landing combos on the arms as I fought and she wasn't doing very well. I needed to save Leviathan for the time when I really needed it. Suddenly, an arm grabbed my body and lifted me up into the air. "Crap!" I screamed as the arm started to squish my body slowly. An arrow suddenly flew in from the exit and exploded on the hand. It let go and I fell to the ground. A pair of hands broke my fall. I looked up at my rescuers to find a Hunter with blue hair equipped with an Olympus and a red-haired Witch (Female wizards are witches, right?) with a Mystic Cane. "Let's go! Fire Arrow!" the witch said and formed a fiery bow along with a fiery arrow in her hands. The flaming projectile hit an arm and dissipated. "Nice going, Lorelei. Arrow Bomb." the Hunter said and jumped into the air, releasing an arrow mid-jump. The arrow hit the palm of an arm and exploded, not really doing much. "Geez...... Are you okay?" Lorelei said, running her hand over my body, stopping on my tail. "Siren huh?" she asked, smiling. "What the...... How'd you know?" I gaped. She replied, "I have an Inner Beast too, and its almost similar to yours. Meet the Aegis." A rough voice suddenly rang out of nothing, "Hello. Pleased to meet you, Siren." The Siren replied, "Same to you, Aegis. Watch out!" I ducked under an arm swipe. "Might as well...... Aegis, embodiment of light and water, awaken!" Lorelei sighed. Her robe disappeared as her legs melded together to form a tailfin. A fin sprouted out of her back while her body elongated and became grayish. Her head became that of a shark's and she swam into the air. "I can swim in the air!" she said proudly. "Light, power of the heavens, lend me your power! Holy Staff!" she shouted. Light gathered in her hand and solidified, becoming a staff. "Shotgun Mode!" she added. The rod of her staff changed shape and melded into her arm. She pointed what had just been her arm at Zakum and muttered something. A projectile suddenly launched itself out of her arm and burst into flames. It slammed into Zakum's head so fast it didn't have time to block. A crack appeared in its rocky head only to disappear as one of its hands waved over it. "Shyt." she cursed and swam out of the way of a burst of flame from another arm. Zakum was beating the four of us back effortlessly as we fought for our lives. "Dar...... Ouch." Lorelei said as an arm slammed me into a wall, creating yet another small crater. I got up painfully as Lorelei swam up beside me and healed my wounds with a swish of her staff. I no longer had any other options other than go into Exzas Form. "Get outta the way!" I yelled at the others and they stepped back. "Exzas Power Seal, heed my command and break! Exzas Form!" I commanded. My eyes became completely green as magical symbols formed in mid-air and I felt something break inside me. My tail grew longer as spikes grew all the way down my back to my tail-end. My hair grew longer and changed colour into green while my arms and torso became completely green and scaly. Six more arms grew out of my body too. I breathed deeply. "Time to kick some Zakum butt." I said calmly and stabbed my icy sword into the ground. "Avalanche!" I commanded and hit the blade of the sword with the palm of my hand. A snowy wave suddenly flew out of the sword and rushed towards Zakum. It blocked it with all of its hands only to get an arm knocked off. It roared and unleashed a burst of fire at me. I pulled my sword out of the ground and rushed towards the fireball, sword pointed straight at the center. The fireball broke apart as I rushed through, showering the area with firey rocks. I continued on and jumped up, straight in front of Zakum's head. A moment later, there was a crack on Zakum's head with my sword in it. When Zakum tried to heal itself, the sword stuck inside and kept the crack open. I formed eight icy swords, holding one in each hand and poised to strike. "Bladestorm!" I shouted and twirled my swords around. Rushing towards Zakum, I stabbed swords into the roots of its remaining arms and left more cuts in its body. "Lorelei! Now!" I shouted as she swam into the air, unleashing bursts of fire at the swords I had embedded in its body. They exploded and broke the arms off, also leaving a big crack in Zakum's head. It let out a deafening roar. "Nice one!" Lorelei gave me a thumbs up and went to heal the Hunter that accompanied her. "You okay, Zephyr?" I heard her say. He replied, "Yep. I don't know how you managed to convince me to fight Zakum...... Watch out!" He dodged a fireball and shot another one off course with an arrow. I palmed my sword again and released a big icicle for Zakum's head. With it no longer being able to block without arms, the icicle flew into its mouth and stuck itself there. It let out a muffled roar and flung the icicle out with some kind of magic. The icicle richocheted off some walls before coming to a stop in front of me. I pointed my sword at it and muttered, "Extend." My sword sucked the icicle in and extended itself. I had to hold it with three hands now. I palmed my sword again while forming symbols in the air. "Elemental Modification! Water!" I shouted. The air around us turned into water and Lorelei found herself able to move easier. Lynx looked at me and smiled before throwing a dagger at Zakum's main body. Zephyr was making good use of the water to avoid more fireballs, which were actually nothing more than flying pieces of rock now. "Good call. Aqua Rake!" Lorelei called over and swished her staff. She altered the flow of water towards Zakum and started to erode its body. However, a rock hit her in the stomach and she flew back, coughing out blood. Zakum let out another roar. My movements were more agile in the water due to my tail and I easily dodged all of Zakum's attacks. "Tsunami Strike! Impaler Mode!" I shouted and palmed my sword towards Zakum. A sudden rush of water became pointed and flew towards Zakum. The bolt of water impaled a hole through Zakum's main body, narrowly missing its heart before I caught myself. I needed its heart to save Ivan! I quickly swam towards the hole and reached in. I felt something squishy and I grasped it, pulling it out. A small pulsating object sat in my fist. Zakum let out a tremendous roar and imploded. Mesos and items rained down from the sky and we quickly picked up what we could. I picked up a red-coloured bow along with a red and gold coloured sword and a gold and black coloured claw. Reverting back to normal, I handed scrolls around and we teleported back to El Nath with them. I fainted afterwards. |
