Chapter 20: Legends "Wake up!" I heard someone calling me as my vision gradually un-blurred, revealing a female blonde warrior. "What happened?" I asked as I got up. The Dark Dragon inside me said, "It would appear that your girlfriend here has saved you. Or should I say, the Siren?". Alexis giggled as a strange voice replied, "I see you caught me, Dark Dragon.". I got up and looked around, noticing that we were in the bushes. Suddenly, the Siren said, "Hush, someone's coming." We immediatly lay low on the ground. Marco walked out of the house, looked at the wreckage of the taxi and kicked it, cursing. He took the path back to Henesys. 'We should be safe now." the Dark Dragon said. I asked, "Why do some of us have you...... Inner Beasts? Why not everyone else in the world?". The Siren replied, "Only a select few people can receive us Inner Beasts. There was an ancient prophecy made hundreds of years ago by the gods that some new people introduced to this world would save the world from utter destruction. Those people were called Legends. We Inner Beasts were created specially to aid these Legends. This world was originally an independent dimension in which maplers lived peacefully, until people from your original world started developing contraptions that would allow them to access this world from the other. When they accessed this world, they created the four jobs, bowman, thief, warrior and magician along with monsters for the newcomers to fight. The old maplers realized that they would be in trouble as long as they did not advance, and some people dared to. The first eight to advance were the ancestors of the following people: Athena Pierce, Dances With Balrog, the Dark Lord, Grendel The Really Old, Robeira, Rene, Arec and Tylus. Yes, Alexis is a descendant of the Original Eight." Alexis gasped. "That is why William wants your blood." the Siren added. The Dark Dragon continued, "Ivan, your father is actually a mapler as well. He was sucked into the game exactly like you. When he was in here, he became a legendary Ranger. He also married a female warrior by the name of Fielda. I was assigned to him as well." Alexis gaped, "But......Fielda is my mother!" I gasped, "That means we're...... half-brother and half-sister?". The Dark Dragon replied, "Incorrect. You two are in fact, brother and sister by blood. Fielda gave birth to twins, and they are standing here right now. It was my powers that allowed Alexis to have the capability to host the Siren.". My jaw dropped. "Because I have a bit of the Dark Dragon's power within me and also both of you are twins, you two are able to merge bodies to create a much stronger Inner Beast." the Siren added. Roy dropped out of a tree, landing on his head. He said, "Ouch. Sorry guys, I didn't mean to eavesdrop. Mind if I listen? My Twin Dragon is also getting interested ya know." The Twin Dragon hurriedly replied, "I never knew that the Dark Dragon had a sister!". I said, "We don't mind." and the Dark Dragon continued, "Remember I told you earlier that you would save the world? Your enemy is an extremely powerful opponent. He is my brother, the Dark Scorpion. He has taken up host in a Dark Knight by the name of Saevio. And he is not to be taken lightly, for he is level 200. In the ancient times, both of us were living happily until the Dark Scorpion saw new maplers killing monsters nearby. He went to watch and when he came back, his heart was tainted black. A few days later, he completely disappeared. The next month, a powerful monster attacked Henesys. That monster was the Dark Scorpion. Nevertheless, he was defeated and his soul was sealed away in an ancient demonic spear called the Wargufta. His demise quickly lead to the hunting down of the other Inner Beasts. I was hunted down along with the Siren and the Twin Dragon as well, and my soul was sealed in a ancient bow called the Archaeion. The latter were weaker than me, and henceforth did not have to be sealed away. As centuries passed, the sealing spell was weakened and we escaped from our inanimate hosts. I brought the Siren and the Twin Dragon back to life with a spell while the Dark Scorpion brought his other comrades back to life and swore revenge on the world. However, we were extremely weak and needed to find people to reside in quickly. The Siren followed me into the same host, your father, staying dormant while I was active. Eventually, when he married Fielda and she gave birth, the Siren's powers were passed down to Alexis unknowingly while my powers were passed down to you. Having lost a big portion of his powers, your father was no longer able to stay in this world and had to return to his original world. He had no chance to bid farewell to your mother." The Siren added, "Which is why she never told you, Alexis. She despised him for having left her so suddenly." "But...... being brother and sister...... Wouldn't that mean we can't marry?" Alexis and I asked simultaneously and we clapped our hands to our mouths. She blushed. The Siren replied, "No, in this world, brothers and sisters can marry." We hugged each other. The Dark Dragon said, "Enough said, you two must train to defeat Saevio and his generations to come. You must also marry for your legacy to continue so you may have children who will keep foiling Saevio's generation's plans as long as they live on." Roy remarked, "I was surprised when I heard that you two were brother and sister. Thats why I fell out of the tree." We laughed heartily. "Anyway, bro, lets go meet mother!" Alexis said, getting up. "Okay, let's go, sis." I smiled and held her hand. "Oh yes, I forgot to mention this. Ivan is older than you by 10 minutes." the Dark Dragon said. 'Who cares?" we said and continued on towards Perion. |
