Chapter 15: The Great Battle "Oh... my... god!" Alexis screamed as she looked at the Demon Dragon, who immediatly tried to lash at her with its tail. Keichii knocked Alexis out of the way just in time, holding the tail tight with his hands. However, the tip squirted out a poisonous liquid on Keichii. Grendel saw him and immediatly dispelled the poison, shouting, "Let go of the tail! Its poisonous!" and dodged a claw swipe. Keichii let go of the tail, jumping out of the way to avoid a claw. He unsheathed his sword and charged the Demon Dragon, yelling, "THIS IS FOR IVAN!!!" and slashed at a claw, cutting it off completely by surprise. It let out a tremendous roar and knocked Keichii back into the wall, creating a crater. Grendel healed him and said, "Watch it, you'll get killed if you're not careful." The rest of the party were trying to slash, shoot and cleave the dragon. However, Alexis was yelling and shouting in front of the dragon, "Ivan!!! Wake up! I know you're in there somewhere!". Roy shouted at Alexis, "What are you doing!? You'll get killed trying to do that!" and pushed her out of the way of an energy beam. Alexis started to cry, saying, "If only i could wake Ivan up......". Athena Pierce looked at Roy and muttered, "So the legends were true......" and launched a hundred arrows into the air. Most of them found their mark and hit the Demon Dragon, who was apparently weakening. She yelled at the other archers, "Use your Arrow Rain and Arrow Eruption skills! That dragon cannot block all those arrows at once!". A Ranger in the corner immediatly released a rain of arrows down on the dragon. Another Sniper fired arrows into the ground, which eventually came up into the Demon Dragon. It roared yet again and formed a sign with its claws. Suddenly an energy barrier appeared around it, blocking most of the attacks coming from the archers. The Ranger cursed and turned back to shooting 4 arrows. All of the attacks were doing next to nothing to the dragon. A F/P Mage suddenly had a good idea and teleported into the barrier shield, unleashing a fury of elemental composition arrows towards the dragon. Taken by surprise, all of the arrows found their mark. The other magicians quickly realised what they could do and teleported into the shield. Within seconds the entire dragon was covered in bruises and cuts. It quickly let loose a flaming breath that rebounded off its shield and surrounded the insides of the barrier. Luckily all of the mages had teleported out just in time. Alexis was still yelling, "Wake up, Ivan!!!" from a corner. The Dark lord noticed her and went down to talk to her. After a while, he jumped over to Grendel and whispered in his ear. Grendel nodded and froze the barrier with a cold beam. He fired a elemental composition arrow at the barrier and broke it. The Dark Lord yelled, "Throw mesos at it, I'll bomb them!" Everyone started throwing mesos at the Demon Dragon, who started to make good use of his claws to deflect and block the explosions. Chief Bandits in the area started to rush towards the dragon with incredible speed and stab and slash at it with their daggers. The dragon let out a tremendous roar and flew up into the air. The warriors cursed and scattered, as they couldn't hit flying targets. However, the Dragon Knights were making good use of their Dragon Roar and were doing good damage to the dragon. Meanwhile, inside the Demon Dragon...... "Man...... This...hurts......" Ivan said, losing consciousness as wings sprouted out of his back. The Dark Dragon beside him was urging him on, "Do not faint! If you lose consciousness, the Demon Dragon will immediatly transform into its third stage!" Ivan replied weakly, "Trying...... but this pain is just too hard to bear......AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!" a tail had grown out of his back. He slumped to the ground, about to faint. Suddenly, he heard Alexis's voice shouting out to him, "Wake up!!!" He stood up again, trying to resist the transformation. "I can't just give up now! The fate of the world is resting in my hands. If I lose to this dragon now, Roy, Alexis and the others will die!" Ivan shouted. Back outside...... The Demon Dragon was starting to weaken, which became obvious as its claws and tail were moving slower. Dances With Balrog quickly saw it and urged the fighters on, "The Demon Dragon is weakening! Take it out!" and jumped up, slashing at the dragon with his axes. Suddenly a few smaller green dragons appeared, teeth, claws and tails readied. Those smaller dragons leapt at the fighters. Those who were hit were poisoned immediatly. Grendel charged up lightning bolts and took all the smaller ones out in one shot and dispelled the poison. "Be careful of the Chaos Dragons!" He shouted and fired an elemental composition arrow at a Chaos Dragon that had leapt on him. A quarter of the crowd trying to defeat the Demon Dragon turned to kill the Chaos Dragons that were appearing around them. As they fought, the Demon Dragon was weakening rapidly. It let out another roar and a magical circle appeared under it. Grendel saw it and fired a cold beam at it, barely managing to stop the Quantum Explosion that it was about to cast. "Impossible, it has that skill!?" he mumbled and fought off another Chaos Dragon. The rest of Ivan's party was starting to yell at the dragon, "Wake up, Ivan!!!". As they yelled, it appeared to be losing control over itself, as claws about to hit fighters froze in mid-swipe and wings beating back and forth stopped, forcing the dragon to take the battle to the ground. The shout quickly caught on and the entire crowd started to shout it. The Demon Dragon roared and carried on fighting with the few claws, the energy beam and the tail it still had control over. Suddenly the dragon let out a weak roar and collapsed to the ground, defeated. One of the fighters took the chance to throw his spear into the dragon's heart. Alexis yelled, "Noooooooooo!!!" just as the spear pierced through its heart. Immediatly, there was an explosion. The crowd was completely knocked back. As the dust cleared, the dragon had disappeared. However, Ivan was laying spread-eagled on the floor. Most members of the crowd cheered and hugged each other. Alexis and the rest of the party, however, were running down to Ivan's resting place. He tried to get up, but failed and coughed out blood. Alexis ran crying to him, shouting, "Ivan!!!" and hugged him. When she took her hands off him, she found that they were covered with blood and her face immediatly changed to a shocked expression. She held Ivan's hand and said, "What the...... You're......" Ivan replied weakly, "I'll die if the Demon Dragon... *cough*were to be defeated...... *cough* I didn't tell you...... *cough* because... *cough* if i did... *cough* you wouldnt kill... *cough**cough* it......" Coughing out blood, Ivan rolled on his side and gazed at the crowd, adding, "Thanks...*cough*". His heartbeat stopped and his hand fell, limp, to the ground. Alexis was shocked. She said, "Ivan? No...... No... NOOO!!!" and started crying hysterically. Tears were flowing out of Keichii's, Roy's, Quiet14's, SonicBoom49's, KHmasta's and Yotam's eyes as they gazed at Ivan, who was apparently dead. The Demon Stone popped out of his mouth, pulsing like crazy until it shattered into a million pieces. A Bishop pushed his way out of the crowd, yelling, "I'll resurrect him!" but Grendel held him back, saying, "That boy has dark powers flowing in his veins. If you were to resurrect him, his body would leave this world. Only a Bishop who has dabbled in the dark arts can resurrect him safely.". Grendel looked around and sighed, "But it would appear that there are no such Bishops here." Alexis started to cry even harder and buried her head in Keichii's armour, who patted her on the back, tears flowing out of his eyes. Roy picked Ivan's limp body up and carried him through the crowd, who got out of his way, leaving a wide berth. Athena blasted the rock blocking the exit away with an arrow bomb, allowing Roy and his party to go through. The party walked back to Sleepywood, tears flowing all the time. |
